HONORARY CHAIRS

Sam L. & Catherine Susser

Serving the community and helping others has been a way of life for Catherine and Sam Susser. They are both involved in numerous organizations throughout the Coastal Bend and believe it is their responsibility to give back to the community that has been so supportive of them. Sam is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Susser Holdings Corporation, a third generation family-led business based in Corpus Christi, Texas that operates over 520 convenience stores and 380 dealer locations.

Sam received his BBA in finance from the University of Texas at Austin where he was a member of the golf team for three years. He is currently on the advisory council for the College of Business Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi, a Trustee and past Chairman of the Driscoll Foundation, a Director of the Texas State Aquarium, a Director of the Texas Hospital PAC, a former Director and past President of the U.S.S. Lexington Museum, and a former Director and Vice Chairman of the Corpus Christi Regional Economic Development Corporation.

Susser Holdings is a strong supporter of the Children’s Miracle Network, United Way, March of Dimes, STARS and numerous other organizations that support healthcare and education. Catherine was born in New Orleans and later moved to Houston. She is a graduate of the University of Texas in Austin where she earned a BBA and a Master’s Degree in Public Accountancy in 1991.

Catherine worked as a CPA with Price Waterhouse in Houston prior to marrying Sam. After moving to Corpus Christi, she served as the Chief Accountant for CCISD for two years before having children. Currently, she is serving as President of the PTA at Windsor Park Elementary School, is a Team Manager for Destination Imagination and is on the Board of the Jewish Community Council. Catherine is a Past President of the Corpus Christi Charity League and served as the Welfare Chairman when the Food Bank of Corpus Christi was selected as its annual recipient. She enjoys walking, tennis and playing the piano.

Sam and Catherine have one daughter and two sons. Their children are the sixth generation of the family in Corpus Christi and share the same passion for community service as their parents. Each year, rather than receiving birthday presents, the children select a charity to receive their gifts. Through the many birthdays, they have gathered dog and cat food for the Humane Society, books for their school libraries, clothes and toys for the ARC and food for the Food Bank. Stripes and the Sussers are proud to be associated with the Food Bank of Corpus Christi and the many programs they offer benefitting children in our area.
