Food Bank of Corpus Christi, an independent, nonprofit 501 (c)(3)
organization that solicits and distributes food that might otherwise
go to waste or be discarded by manufacturers, wholesalers or retailers.

In 2005 The Food Bank of Corpus
Christi was recognized nationally with an award for its
Nutrition
Education
Mobile Kitchen. This
innovative program delivers food and nutrition education
classes to rural communities. This outreach model is
the first of its
kind in the nation.
The
Food Bank of Corpus Christi is one of only two food banks in the
State of Texas authorized by HEB to collect perishables from their local stores.
In 2006 alone, 889,685 pounds of perishable products, almost 20% of
our total food distributions, were perishable products.

The Texas Department of Agriculture’s GO TEXAN program invites you to dine-out at participating GO TEXAN restaurants to enjoy locally grown or raised products and Texas wines during the 2009 GO TEXAN Restaurant Round-Up Sept. 28 – Oct. 2. During this special week, restaurants will support local farmers by highlighting Texas products on their menus.
