For over 27 years, The Food Bank of Corpus Christi has been faithfully serving the Coastal Bend area.  Please join me along with our Honorary Chairs, Sam & Catherine Susser and many of your friends for our 10th Annual Fund Raising Event featuring: Flashback and Just Jammin Quartet.

The Food Bank sponsors 6 Kids Cafes in town, four of them are attached to low income housing projects and one is held at the Garcia Arts Center. Kids Cafe is an after school program that offers children two hot meals a week, homework assistance (their homework is their ticket to the meal), tutoring, computer labs, reading labs, exercise, nutrition education classes and supervised recreation.  

In addition, the Food Bank prepares “back packs” containing nutritious snacks that the participating children take home on Fridays; often times these children do not have much to eat at home on weekends.  The Food Bank is using the Kids Cafe and the Back Pack Programs to effectively intervene in the Diabetes and Obesity epidemic that is affecting South Texas.  This is an extraordinary opportunity for volunteers and donors to contribute proactively in improving the health and welfare of children in our community.
